To get Xfinity Stream on Fire Stick, search for Xfinity Stream on your Fire TV, download it from the Amazon Appstore, then select Sign in. Your TV shows a 6 digit code. Enter that code at xfinity.com/authorize on your phone or laptop, sign in with your Xfinity ID, and the app is ready. Roku and Apple TV use the same code method.
This guide walks through all three devices step by step. It also covers who can use the app, which channels work away from home, and how to fix the most common problems.
Is Xfinity Stream Available on Fire Stick?
Yes. Comcast released an official Xfinity Stream app for Amazon Fire TV devices in December 2020. You download it free from the Amazon Appstore. Xfinity says your Fire TV needs Fire OS 6 or later.
Older guides, including an earlier version of this one, said the app did not work on Fire Stick. They told readers to use workarounds or screen mirroring. That advice is out of date. Use the official app instead. It updates itself, it is safe, and it supports live TV, On Demand and Cloud DVR.
How to Install Xfinity Stream on Fire Stick
Before you start, make sure your Fire TV is linked to an Amazon account. Then follow these steps.
- On the Fire TV home screen, select Find, then Search.
- Type Xfinity Stream and pick the app from the results.
- Select Get or Download, and wait for it to install.
- Open the app and select Sign in.
- Note the 6 digit code on your TV screen.
- On your phone, tablet or laptop, go to xfinity.com/authorize.
- Enter the code, then sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
- Wait for the Success message. Your TV updates by itself a few seconds later.
Do not try to open xfinity.com/authorize on the Fire Stick itself. Xfinity asks you to use a second device for this step.
If the app plays but keeps stopping, the problem is usually the Fire Stick or your Wi-Fi. Our guide to fixing Fire Stick buffering covers the quick fixes.
How to Get Xfinity Stream on Roku
Xfinity Stream works on Roku devices running Roku OS 11 or later. Xfinity says the app only appears in the Roku Channel Store on eligible devices. On Roku, it is for Xfinity TV customers with Xfinity Internet, at home.
- Make sure your Xfinity Internet and TV services are installed and active.
- On your Roku, open Streaming Channels to reach the Channel Store.
- Search for Xfinity, select the app, and add it.
- Open the app and choose Sign In.
- Go to xfinity.com/authorize on your phone or computer.
- Enter the 6 digit code shown on your Roku, then sign in.
- Accept the Terms of Activation and name your device.
If you cannot find the app, check your Roku software. Go to Settings, then System, then System update. Xfinity notes that some 2017 Roku models have not had updates since October 2022, so they may never show the app.
Fixing error TVAPP-00101 on Roku
This error can appear if you have two or more linked Xfinity accounts. Xfinity says the fix is to set the right account as your primary one in your account settings, then try signing in again.
How to Install the Xfinity Stream App on Apple TV
Comcast launched the Xfinity Stream app on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD on June 30, 2022. Today Xfinity says you need tvOS 18 or later. You no longer have to mirror your iPhone screen to watch.
- Sign in to your Apple account on the Apple TV first.
- Open the App Store on Apple TV and search for Xfinity Stream.
- Download the app, open it, and select Sign in.
- On your phone or laptop, go to xfinity.com/authorize, or scan the QR code on screen.
- Enter the 6 digit code, select Continue, and sign in.
- When you see Success, the main menu appears on your TV.
Xfinity lists the Apple TV 4K from 2021 and 2017, plus the Apple TV HD from 2015, as supported models. Pay per view events are not available in the app.
Can you still use AirPlay?
Yes. In January 2023, Comcast added AirPlay to the Xfinity Stream app on iPhone and iPad. You can send live TV, On Demand and DVR recordings to an AirPlay screen. It is useful for TVs that do not have the app, but the Apple TV app is simpler for daily use.
Xfinity Stream App Supported Devices
Here are the main devices Xfinity lists on its requirements page, with the minimum software for each:

Who Can Use the Xfinity Stream App?
Xfinity says the app is included with your Xfinity service, and there is no charge to use it. What you can watch depends on your plan:
- Xfinity TV customers: get their live channels, On Demand and Cloud DVR recordings, based on their lineup.
- Xfinity Internet customers without TV: can still watch some live and On Demand content on Fire TV, phones, tablets and the web.
- NOW TV customers: Comcast launched NOW TV in 2023 as a cheaper streaming add on for Xfinity Internet customers. Xfinity says LG, Samsung and Apple TV devices cannot play NOW TV content.
An earlier version of this post quoted a fixed monthly price for the app. That was wrong, because the app itself costs nothing. You pay for your Xfinity plan as normal. Xfinity is a US service, so if you are reading from Nigeria or elsewhere, the app is not a way to watch US channels abroad.
How Many Devices Can Stream at Once?
According to Xfinity, TV customers can stream on up to five devices at the same time at home. You can register up to 45 devices on one account. Outside the home, the limit drops to three devices at once. Xfinity Choice TV customers get two at a time.
Why Do Some Channels Not Work Away From Home?
To stream live TV at home, you must be connected to your home Xfinity network. Away from home, Xfinity says more than 250 channels are still available, but not your full lineup.
Roku, Apple TV, Samsung, LG and Xumo TV are in home only devices. So if you take your Roku to a friend’s house, the app will not play your channels there. A Fire Stick or your phone is the better choice for travel inside the US.
Xfinity Stream Not Working on Fire Stick or Roku? Fixes
- App not in the store: update your device software first. Then check that it meets the requirements in the table above.
- Code will not work: select Sign in again to get a new code, and enter it at xfinity.com/authorize on another device.
- No live channels at home: make sure the TV device is on your Xfinity home Wi-Fi, not a guest network or a hotspot.
- Buffering or freezing: run a speed test and restart your router. Our Xfinity speed test guide shows how.
- Nothing loads at all: check for an outage. Here is how to check if Xfinity internet is down.
- Still broken: uninstall the app, restart the device at the wall, and install it again.

Xfinity Stream App vs an Xfinity TV Box
| Feature | Xfinity Stream app | Xfinity TV box |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | A device you may already own | Rented from Xfinity |
| Recording | Cloud DVR, if your plan has it | DVR box, if you rent one |
| Voice remote | No X1 voice control | Yes, with the X1 remote |
| Away from home | Fire TV and phones only | No |
The app is a good fit for a second TV. A box still makes sense for the main TV if you want X1 voice control, or if your Wi-Fi is weak in that room.
Common Questions About Xfinity Stream

Partly. Internet only customers can watch some live and On Demand content on Fire TV, phones, tablets and the web. Roku, Apple TV and smart TV versions need an Xfinity TV plan.
