  • Firstly, go to the Device Manager by searching for it or right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
  • Click the Batteries on the list to open it and you should see two items: Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Unplug the power cable from your laptop.

  • Turn on your laptop.
  • Navigate to the battery icon in the system tray and you should see that your laptop is plugged in and charging.

1.Unplug and then try a different outlet in the extension.

Plug your laptop to another power outlet

Unplug the laptop from power, then plug it into a different outlet in the extension. A test showed that laptop power adapter do sometimes stop working temporarily to protect itself from a perceived issue with the power supply.

2.Let the computer cool down.

For instance, your laptop battery may feel very hot to touch. Excess heat could be interfering with the charging process. Now shut down the computer and allow it to cool for some minutes.

3.Check Your Settings

Go to the Control Panel and open up the Power Options. Click on the plan settings and carefully check that all are properly set. Visually check for incorrect settings for the battery, display, and sleep options. For instance, your battery settings may result to an issue if you set the computer to shut down when the battery level drops to a specific level.

4. Update Battery Drivers

Proceed to Device manager, click on the entry named Batteries by hitting on the side arrow associated with it. As next, right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and click on the Uninstall option.

After that, click on the tab named Action and then click on the option Scan for hardware changes.

Also, expand the entry Batteries one more time by clicking on the side arrow as you did before. As next, right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and click on the Update Driver Software option

You will be required to choose a method to search for the driver software. If you have the driver set already, then you can click on the option, Browse my computer for driver software.

5.Start up your laptop without a battery

One major common way to check the battery integrity is to remove it entirely and try plugging in the laptop. If the laptop boot properly, the problem is likely a bum battery.

6 .Replace the charger

Sometimes the adapter (the box in the cord) could be the problem, despite your best efforts you can’t repair a loose plug. Use another computer to test your charger. If the charger is the issue, replace it with a new one.
